Overview

Responsible for consolidating servers throughout 9 locations into one data center by migrating outdated Microsoft NT Domain and older Microsoft Exchange environment to one Microsoft Active Directory and latest Exchange environment. Project had zero user downtime. 15 new Servers replaced 40 old servers Assessment on current environment to determine project requirements. Current environment included 100 plus servers with multiple clustered servers spread out throughout the 9 locations. Worked closely and reported to CIO to provide project management by generating a weekly project plan, tasks outstanding, resources required timeframes, and estimated costs. Designed a single Active Directory Domain with a centralized Exchange email services on a 100 TB SAN with data shadowing to a second data center for disaster recovery. Designed Storage Area Network data requirements and allocated space for email, user data, and other applications. Created migration plan to move 2,000 users’ email/data/shares/printers from exiting domains to new Active Directory environment. Old servers were reinstalled or removed from the environment. To do this we had to run a dual environment with domain trusts in place. Consolidated environment into one major data center with a disaster recovery location. Redesigned Network topology to accommodate new server environment. Built a roll back procedure when applied to any user with a problem during migration assured that there was no downtime. Installed and successfully deployed Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) to automatically update with security patches both servers and desktops.
