Overview

I was tasked with migrating thousands of users throughout all United States offices from the current Novell GroupWise email system to the latest Microsoft Exchange email system, and to update mail clients to the latest Microsoft Outlook email application from GroupWise while still maintaining integration to an existing document management system. I architected an email infrastructure that included centralized clustered email servers running off a SAN. I worked with the network group to redesign network infrastructure to accommodate the increase in bandwidth. I also drew up and coordinated the development of the migration process that was going to be deployed. Provided technical guidance to users migrating from Novell GroupWise to Exchange/Outlook. Identified and help troubleshoot desktop and server issues to avoid user downtime and delay. Wrote and created server and end-user technical documentation for migration. Build a database with integrated web site portal so users can choose their migration date. Managed a team of 10 Migration Engineers to perform migration process. Migration process utilized Wingra software to migrate user mail.
